We're always excited when we get to frame a true artifact. This copper church tile was given to the owner by her son who is a museum conservationist and he believes it could be as old as 200 years!
There was much to consider when approaching the design. The challenge was to show the entire tile without using any adhesive and to keep the glass off of it. The mat design keeps the glass raised and we used special mounts that don't harm the copper.
The final touch was using museum glass. It offers 99% UV protection and it is 99% reflection free. If you want to know why that's important to the appearance, consider this: these photos were taken after the glass was put in. See any glare? Exactly.
